Brock Lesnar Headlines Pro MMA Radio 9, Monday, August 4th!

Just days away from his second fight in the Octagon at this weekend’s UFC 87, Brock Lesnar visits Pro MMA Radio. This is Brock’s first fight since his impressive debut against former UFC Heavyweight Champ, Frank Mir, where he opened a lot of eyes regarding his future potential, even in defeat. Now he takes on the very experienced and vastly improved Heath “Crazy Horse” Herring in a critical fight of his young MMA career. We’ll also have a recap of WEC 35 and a full breakdown of the upcoming UFC 87 event this weekend with MMAMania’s Jesse Holland.

Tim Credeur came in and rapped about his big KO at Fight Night, the circumstances surrounding why that fight had been postponed from the TUF Finale and his experiences training and living with UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Forrest Griffin as he got ready for his big fight with Rampage. We’re going to do a part 2 with Tim and get into his experience on TUF, so stay tuned. PMR 7 – Ed Soares

Ed Soares came in and gave us the lowdown on his stable of fighters, Anderson Silva, Antonio Nogueira, Lyoto Machida and Paulo Filho in his first radio interview after Anderson’s dominant performance at UFC Fight Night 14. Would Anderson take a fight with 205 champ, Forrest Griffin? Will he continue at 205? Could he ever fight at heavyweight? The answers may surprise you. Was Nogueira disrespected by Randy’s refusal to fight him? How did he get along with Mir while they filmed the new season of The Ultimate Fighter? We also covered Paulo’s comeback, Rampage’s current struggles and Lyoto’s path to a title and fighters who duck Anderson and Lyoto. Ed also discussed how he came to own Sinister Brand clothing…interesting story. Click on the link to check out their latest styles.

FightHype’s Percy Crawford came in and broke down his experience covering Affliction: Banned and whether they can compete with the UFC. Then Percy flipped the script and questioned me about the UFC event and who impressed and who disappointed.

This week we welcome Brandon “The Truth” Vera just days before his UFC debut at 205 this weekend at UFC Fight Night 14. Brandon comes off a controversial loss to Fabricio Werdum that left him fuming and wanting back in the Octagon as soon as possible.

Also on the show this week is the holder of the biggest upset in the UFC this year, welterweight Kevin Burns. “The Fire” debuted at UFC 85 against overwhelming favorite Roan Carneiro, a BJJ black belt from American Top Team. Kevin shocked the world by submitting Roan in the second round and now faces KO artist Anthony Johnson this weekend. AJ was here on Pro MMA last week, and now it’s Kevin’s turn.

In the Opening Round, award winning national columnist for Yahoo Sports, Dan Wetzel, stopped by and we broke down the Rampage/Forrest fight, the MMA scoring system, upcoming superfights in MMA and why boxing superfights are few and far between.

UFC Rising Stars Frankie Edgar & Anthony Johnson Headline Pro MMA Radio, Monday, July 7th

UFC Lightweight Frankie “The Answer” Edgar stops by the show to discuss the biggest fight of his life next week against top contender Hermes Franca at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19th. He’ll rap about his quest to erase the memory of that loss when he and Hermes both look to get back in the win column.

Also on the card that night will be highlight-reel KO artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson as he prepares for a true battle of styles against Kevin Burns. Kevin’s shocking submission of Roan Carneiro last month earned him Submission of the Night at UFC 85 and a spot on the main card. Anthony’s two wins in the Octagon took a total of 64 seconds and he says he is ready to rumble in the studio and in the cage. Make sure to tune in to find out.
