Two undefeated fighters who will be doing their thing this Wednesday at WEC 37 here in Vegas headline our “Rising Stars” edition of Pro MMA Radio.
Former NCAA National Collegiate Wrestling Champion, Mark Munoz, will take his undefeated 4-0 record into his second fight in the WEC when he takes on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Ricardo Barros. We’ll talk to Mark about his decision to fight professionally six years after he graduated as a decorated collegiate wrestling champion, the impact of training with a who’s who of MMA superstars during that hiatus and his future in the UFC.
Joseph Benavidez makes his WEC debut against highly touted Danny Martinez in the first televised bout of the evening. Joseph is 8-0 in his MMA career and is widely regarded as one of the potential breakout stars of 2009 as he enters a stacked 135 pound division in the WEC. Joseph is the only fighter not named Urijah Faber sponsored by mega company, No Fear Energy, and will discuss the origins of his relationship with Urijah and what really went on with his scheduled fight with Kid Yamamoto at Dream 5.
In the Opening Round, MMA Mania’s Jesse Holland will come by to preview WEC 37 and talk about some of the surprising rumored matchups making the rounds in the UFC and WEC.
